Personal Biography
Teddy Harder was born and raised in the city of Slagelse, Denmark.
In the early ‘90’s he traveled to Los Angeles, California to work with the Missionaries of Charity Brothers, an order founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta. He worked with homeless youth and inner city gangs in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles throughout the 90’s. During this time he became involved in volunteer work at Central Juvenile Hall in East LA.
In 1998 Teddy became a chaplain working in the largest county jail system in the nation (Los Angeles County), at Century Regional Detention Facility, Twin Towers and Men's Central Jail. Ted began working directly with released offenders, investing in their lives and learning the challenges of prisoner reentry from the bottom up. His direct experience with the parole system led to the conviction that reentry, transition and resettlement needed a new and more creative approach.
Teddy worked as a chaplain at the Heman G. Stark Youth Correctional Facility of the California Youth Authority (now the Division of Juvenile Justice) in Chino, CA. from 2002 through 2007. Today he is a chaplain at a state prison for adults in Norco, CA.
In 2005, Ted began to develop a pilot project called Project Our Home, Inc. in close cooperation with former youth offenders. POH was incorporated as a 501(c)3 non profit organization in September 2006. Today POH is mentoring formerly incarcerated young adults and implementing a curriculum that includes employment opportunities in the field of renewable energy, specifically Photovoltaic.
